1-5Halloween Poem
Nov. 3rd, 2024 01:20 pmHalloween is over and now I have a bit of post-Halloween blues. So I wrote this poem to try to express some of my feelings about it...
Pumpkins shine in moonlight fair
like misty orange stars,
that twinkle with a eerie gleam
that ghostly hands do mar
November shakes its tousled head
defies the salient winds,
that tug and pull at Halloween,
to take apart its limbs
Stay and haunt us cries the rain
that splatters every rail,
we need the veil that thins the worlds
and leaves a spooky trail
Leaves will brown when reds do fade
and snow will soon beget,
the patterns of a colder time
that autumn’s heart forgets
Bring back the holy haunted days
that ripen in the dark,
that feed the sacred yearnings,
that leave its mystic mark

Trapped in a prison of heat and haze,
Autumn presses her face
against summer’s window,
praying for the chill
of a colder sun,
waiting for summer to drift away,
like a bird vanishing in twilight.
Autumn rises in the still of night,
her harvest face bathed in moonlight.
The world looks above in wonder,
stretching out its hollow hands,
waiting to be filled.

10 train Icons
Jun. 12th, 2024 04:52 amWhen I was a kid we visited my grandmother in Ohio every other summer. She lived a block away from the railway tracks. I loved hearing the sound of the train whistle as a train approached and the blinking red lights, dinging bells and the gate closing at the railway crossing. I'd run to the window or go outside and watch the freight trains go by.
Recently I started watching train vids on youtube and it made me think of those train memories from childhood again. And it put me in the mood to make some train gif icons!
