casey28: (halloween witch moon)
Halloween is over and now I have a bit of post-Halloween blues. So I wrote this poem to try to express some of my feelings about it...

Pumpkins shine in moonlight fair
like misty orange stars,
that twinkle with a eerie gleam
that ghostly hands do mar

November shakes its tousled head
defies the salient winds,
that tug and pull at Halloween,
to take apart its limbs

Stay and haunt us cries the rain
that splatters every rail,
we need the veil that thins the worlds
and leaves a spooky trail

Leaves will brown when reds do fade
and snow will soon beget,
the patterns of a colder time
that autumn’s heart forgets

Bring back the holy haunted days
that ripen in the dark,
that feed the sacred yearnings,
that leave its mystic mark
casey28: (knitting witch cat moon)
Shawl wrapped around her slim shoulders, the girl shivers as she feels the pull of night. Branches creak and moan around her like a ghostly granny’s withered limbs.

She longs to enter the deep woods, to have the crisp edge of abandon fill her soul. To hear the great Mystery whisper in the air, as wind spreads its magic to the trees.

Mother moon shines like an opal as her milky sheen glides toward earth, bathing the girl in its shimmer. The girl sings to the shadows and the world stills to listen. Creepy things bend near, their eyes hollow with tears. No light reflects the grief they buried long ago. The dead linger, peering through the lacey cobwebs of a thinning world.
